Decorative scheme
for a school entrance, stenciled frieze, and acrylic on
panels
Sacred Heart Elementary School
Lyndhurst, NJ
The tile walls surrounding this 1950s
parochial school presented a cold, uninviting aspect to
students,
staff,
and visitors alike.
The principal asked Windhover to create
images that would bring color and warmth to the space.
In addition
to six painted panels, Windhover designed and executed a stenciled
ornamental pattern
on the existing plain frieze and crown incorporating into
the design an emblem of the Dominican Sisters who staffed
the school for many years.
